Reporting an Absence and Useful Information

Reporting an absence

To ensure children’s safety, and help us meet Government guidelines, we request that parents contact the school before 8.45 am on the first day of absence to inform us of their children’s absence. Parent/carers are required to call in to inform us about any children absent for any reason.

If the school is not contacted, a call home will be made to ensure all children are accounted for.  If school cannot make contact with any of the people on the contact list, a home visit will be made.

To report your child’s absence call the school office on 01908 373748 or email office@chestnuts.milton-keynes.sch.uk detailing your child's name, class and reason for absence.

If your child is off school for more than one day, please be aware we require you to notify us of your child's absence each day they are off.

Leave of absence request

From September 2013, schools are no longer allowed to authorise any requests for children to be taken out of school for a holiday during term time.

Requests for leave can only be granted in exceptional circumstances, and a holiday would not be considered exceptional.

Requests for leave must also be made to the school 4 weeks in advance, as the DfE have told schools that they cannot authorise any absences after they have been taken.

To make a leave of absence request, download and complete the below form in full and return it to the school office.

Change of Contact Details

It is important that we have your most up-to-date contact details, if your contact details change, please download and complete the below form and return it to the school office or complete the online form.
